Creating The Perfect Ball Toss
Posted in: Blog | Published on: March 5, 2022 | Written By: adminWhen you’re a beginning tennis player, there are always spots you want to work on. For some players, it’s their swing, and for others, it’s their foot stance. For many beginners, though, the opening ball toss can be one of the hardest areas to master. Here are three great tips on how to perfect your ball toss.
1. Full Body Stances
Your entire body goes into the way you begin your ball toss, and it’s crucial that you understand where each part of you should be at all times. To perfect your opening ball toss, make sure your shoulders stay relaxed. For best results, try placing one hand on the opposite thigh and keeping your elbow straight. Raise your arm above your head, as far as you can, before throwing the ball.
2. Fingertip Postures
The way your hand moves as you begin your ball toss is the most important piece as you throw. Make sure to keep your fingertips open and don’t jerk your wrist as you throw. This may cause the ball to hit backwards, which is bad when you’re on the court. Try to keep your movements as graceful as possible while you do this.
3. Practice, Practice, Practice
As with any sport or skill, the best way to perfect this one is practice. This is true of almost everything that creates a struggle for you in the world of tennis. If you try three times and give up, you won’t ever get better at anything. Instead, keep going- eventually, you’ll understand each piece of a movement, and you’ll have mastered it.
