When you’re playing tennis, there’s always one thing you strive for: to increase your game, and up your serving power. It turns out that there are a lot of different ways to do this, and it’s not as difficult as you might think. Try these tips to increase your serving power, and play better because of it!

Check Out Your Starting Stance

If you’re looking to increase the power behind your swing, it might be a good idea to look at how you’re beginning your games. There are two basic stances: the platform stance, and the pinpoint stance. While both are good in different scenarios, they’re made up of different movements. In the platform stance, your feet are apart, and you jump with both of them. In the pinpoint stance, your feet are together, and you still jump with both of them. If you’re usually serving with the platform stance, you should work on your pinpoint stance- it gives a lot of power when you jump, and can help increase your serve.

Shoulder Alignments

Another important piece of your serve is the way your shoulder moves. When you toss the ball into the air, your shoulders should raise at a 45 degree angle. This can help your ball gain speed, and increase the power behind your swing.

Rotation To The Net

As you swing, you should note the angle that you take relative to the net and the ground. Try to turn away from your opponent as you serve, and that can help build the power behind your serve. The best rotations will be almost 90 degrees away from the net, so that your shoulders are perpendicular- but not all players can achieve that, and it’s a good idea to start slow.
