Improve Your Balance With These Three Tips
Posted in: Blog | Published on: May 1, 2023 | Written By: adminIf you’re looking to improve your tennis game this season, the best place to start is your balance. Many new players– and even more seasoned ones– find that they have trouble keeping their balance on the court when trying to catch that next serve, but you don’t have to be one of them! Here are three great tips to help improve your balance and win your next tennis match.
How Are You Balanced?
The easiest way to figure out how you’re balancing now is to practice! Carefully control your balance by drop-feeding yourself the tennis ball and serving it across the court. Take note of where your feet are when you do that, and how they move as you complete the action. Are you off-balance? Where? Use this information to help correct where you may be going wrong. If you ever feel yourself start dipping to one side, that means you’ve lost your balance and you need to reconfigure the move.
Cooperative Balance
To make further notes of your balance, try rallying with a partner. Remember to keep an eye on how your balance feels as you do this, and adjust when necessary. Figure out what movement feels best to you. Try to maintain your balance all the way through the rally, and then when you’re done, do it again! Practice is key when trying to improve your skills, and that’s doubly true when you’re practicing with a partner.
Keeping Your Feet Steady
If you want to keep your balance on one foot, this might be the drill for you. Take a soft tennis ball and place it on the ground. Step on it so that it fits right under the ball of your foot. Practice your serve, but make sure to keep your attention on your feet and legs. Keep your heels on the ground to maintain your balance.
Improving Your Balance on the Court
If you’re looking to improve your tennis game, balance is one of the best places to begin. Your balance affects every aspect of your game, from your swing to your serve. With these three tips, you’ll be back and ready to serve up your best game.
