Your racquet is one of the most important parts of your tennis game, and therefore you need to ensure that you always have the right size of grip on it! Having the incorrect grip size can have disastrous consequences for your tennis game, and could cause you to lose more matches than you can make up. Be cognizant of your racquet size with these quick tips to find your grip size.

Use Your Pointer Finger To Measure

If you’re trying to decide on your perfect grip size, use your index finger to measure it. When you’re holding the racquet that you think is the correct size, check the gap between your fingertips and your palm. If you have the right size, this gap should be about the same thickness as your pointer finger. This is one of the simplest ways to make sure that you have the right grip size, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only one.

Measure Your Grip With A Ruler

If you’re looking to get more precise about your grip sizes, grab a ruler. If you can’t actually guarantee the size of your racquet in your hand or are ordering online, there’s a simple way to measure for it. Fully open your hand and measure from the tip of your longest finger to the second crease in the middle of your palm, often called the headline. This measurement will display what size tennis grip you should order.

In-Between Sizes

If you can’t manage to find a size that fits your hands perfectly, the best bet is to get a racquet in the size directly below what you need. SO if you think you need a racquet with a European grip size of 2.5, but you can’t obtain one, it’s best to go with one with a grip size of 2 instead.

Finding The Right Tennis Grip

Finding the right tennis grip doesn’t have to be hard, and if you measure your hands, you can easily find what you need in any sporting goods store. Remember to measure with both your index and a ruler, if possible, and when in doubt, go a size down from what you think you need.
