It will be like walking on grass in the rain; it might get your socks wet, but there’s not much else that it can do. However, natural grass courts become much more slippery than their synthetic friends. You need to be extra careful when playing on natural grass in the rain, as it’s much more likely to slip or fall on the court. Playing on clay courts in the rain is often encouraged- they’re meant to be a little bit damp while you play, so unless the court itself begins to absorb too much and crumble away, you should be good to play on clay in the rain.

Note that it’s much easier to get many basic slip-and-fall injuries while you’re playing in the rain, simply due to the adverse conditions that present themselves to you. To prevent any harm from befalling you, make sure to stay warm as you play. Whether this means donning a jacket or stopping for coffee, it doesn’t matter, but it will help prevent your muscles from getting cold and tearing mid-match. Make sure you wear shoes with a good grip, as well, because that will help prevent you from tripping or slipping on a wet court. Wear shoes you’ve been wearing for a while because those are the ones that you know best and you know how they grip.
