How To Use A Wall To Practice Tennis
Posted in: Blog | Published on: March 30, 2021 | Written By: adminMost tennis exercises are hard to do without a partner. If you’re stuck in the solo range and looking to improve your moves- but don’t have anybody to go with- here’s a great list for you- a range of exercises that you can do with just a ball and a wall.
Forehand Drills
A great way to start is to practice your forehand serving skills. Try to serve the ball about midway into your range- not as hard as you could throw it, per se, but definitely not the softest throw you’ve ever made. Continue this, steadily building from that midrange to the top of your range. Make sure to watch your backswing and your topspin as you do this, because it can really help build your skills!
Backhand Drills
After you’re done working on forehand drills, it’s time to work on your backhand serving skills. To practice this, you basically just want to do what you did with your forehand drills- start serving at about half your maximum power, and work your way up to your max! Focus this time on your footwork, and work on setting up the ball before you serve it.
Double Groundstrokes
Next, try working on your forehand and backhand serves together. Try hitting two forehands in a row, and then swap to backhands, and switch between the two for as long as necessary. Try to work your way to serving them interchangeably, and switching from hand to hand with ease!
Slicing It
To top off your practice, try working on your forehand and backhand slices. Start by working on your forehand slices, and then move into your backhand ones once you feel comfortable. If you can, hit ten per group- ten forehand, and then ten backhanded, and continue. Alternate until, like before, you can slice both ways interchangeably, or switch hands with ease.
